Set to officially debut at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, the new 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has already generated a ton of excitement — and for good reason. Since the current generation debuted back in 2013, the Mustang Shelby GT500 has been the top-of-the-line iteration of this iconic American muscle car.
The 2020 Shelby GT500 is set to take the model to the next level, as evidenced by a recent tweet from Ford. It provides a first under-the-hood glimpse of this highly-anticipated version of one of the most celebrated car’s in automotive history.
The tweet from Ford shows the engine of the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500. Car enthusiasts everywhere will be happy to know that the tweet confirms that the 2020 GT500 will come equipped with an exceptionally-potent supercharged V8 engine that cranks out more than 700 horsepower.
While we’ll have to wait just a bit longer for more specifics, we can expect a six-speed manual transmission to come standard. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will be available, as well.
The 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 won’t go on sale until later in 2019. It seems like it will be well-worth the wait though. In the meantime, stop by Rudig Jensen Ford Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram to test-drive our current inventory of Ford Mustangs.
